Scales & Tech is a practice tool for scales, arpeggios and technical exercises. It listens to your playing - through a MIDI keyboard or your computer keys - and gives feedback on pitch, timing, dynamics and articulation. Dynamics and articulation are graded from MIDI input only, because that is the only input that reports how hard a key was struck.
You choose what to practise: the key, the scale or arpeggio, how many octaves, and whether you play hands separately or together. The app does not contain an exam syllabus and does not tell you what any examining body requires. Its scores are a practice aid, not an assessment - they do not represent AMEB, ABRSM, Trinity or any other examining body, and no result here is a substitute for a real examination or for a teacher. If you are preparing for a graded exam, work from your own copy of the official syllabus.
This app shares one account and one practice history with Piano Coach. Signing in here uses the same account, and these terms apply to your use of this app; the Piano Coach terms apply to that one. Closing your account closes it for both.
You do not need an account to practise, but practice results are not saved while you are signed out. If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to it or other users' data. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
Many piano students are children, and the app is designed to be safe for them: no ads, no social features, and no profiling. We count visits to our web pages without cookies or any identifier, so no student is recognised between visits or followed anywhere (see the privacy policy). If you are under 16, you may practise without an account. If you use an account, a parent or guardian must create and manage it and accepts these terms on your behalf. Parents and guardians can see and delete a student's data at any time from Settings → Data, or by emailing support@pianocoach.pro.
When you are signed in, your practice takes and scores stay yours. You give us only the permission needed to store and process them so the app works (for example, syncing your progress between your devices). You can delete this data at any time in Settings → Data → Delete my data. Practice results are not stored while you are signed out.
The technical exercises in the app (Hanon, Czerny and Lemoine studies) are long out of copyright. They are provided as a convenience and we make no claim of ownership over the underlying music.
Scales & Tech is free while in beta and does not take payments today. There is no subscription, no checkout, and nothing to cancel. If paid plans launch later we will publish the terms that apply to them - including billing, renewal and refunds - and update this page before anyone is charged. Questions: support@pianocoach.pro.
The app is provided "as is", without warranty, and may have downtime, bugs, or change over time. We may add, change or remove features, and may update these terms; material changes will be posted here before they take effect. To the extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app.
